چکیده

Workflow systems provide automated support that enables organizations to efficiently and reliably move important data through their routine business processes. For some organizations, the information processed by their workflow systems is highly valued and in need of protection from disclosure or corruption. Current workflow systems do not help organizations to adequately protect this important data. We describe a prototype secure workflow system that allows users to develop highlevel workflow security policies and to automatically execute these policies within the workflow system. These workflow policies can use the workflow context to provide fine-grained, dynamic access control and other security services that enhance the organization’s ability to control the information contained in its workflow system. In this paper, we will explain these security policy goals, our prototype policy editor, our prototype workflow server, and our underlying Java-based implementation.

A distributed server architecture supporting dynamic resource provisioning for BPM-oriented workflow management systems

Workflow management systems have been widely used in many business process management (BPM) applications. There are also a lot of companies offering commercial software solutions for BPM. However, most of them adopt a simple client/server architecture with one single centralized workflow-management server only. As the number of incoming workflow requests increases, the single workflow-managemen...

PDA- and Agent-based Execution of Workflow Tasks

With the rise of global networks like the Internet the importance of workflow environments is growing. Especially the combination with software agents allows to counter deficiencies of traditional client/server based workflow systems. In this setting new trends in hardand software such personal digital assistants (PDAs) and wireless technologies cause a change in the execution of workflow tasks...

Novel Client-Cloud Architecture for Scalable Instance-Intensive Workflow Systems

Though workflow technology is relatively mature and has been one of the most popular components of process aware systems over the last two decades, few workflow architectures can efficiently support a large number of concurrent workflow instances, i.e. instance-intensive workflows. The basic requirements include high throughput, elastic scalability, and cost-effectiveness. This paper proposes a...

Implementing Belief-Consistent Multilevel Secure Relational Data Model: Issues and Solutions

This paper summarizes our efforts in implementing a working multi-level secure database prototype. We have chosen BeliefConsistent Multilevel Secure Relational Data Model (BCMLS) as a basis for our prototype because of its comprehensive semantics for interpreting all stored information. While semantically superior to other models, this model has not been implemented as a working system before. ...

Web services workflow with result data forwarding as resources

Under a centralized workflow model, distributed data transfer between consective services in a Web service workflow can save network bandwidth and avoid the centralized workflow engine being overloaded. The proposed Web Service Data Forwarding(WSDF) framework harnesses the Web Service Resource Framework(WSRF) to meet this requirement. WSDF compliant service in a workflow can forward the result ...
